Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

What is an FAQ?

FAQ is an acronym that stands for Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the point of an FAQ?

To answer commonly asked questions in a single location. The FAQ could be a separate page that is accessible from the menu like our announcements are.

Can you give some examples?

An FAQ page would have been a great place to put common questions about COVID changes to policies. For example, if every team had a list of changes that were relevant to COVID, they could have an FAQ cover it. So one FAQ question might be "What are some assessment policy changes due to COVID?" and then there would be an appropriate selection of answers as show below.

Another example might be about whether an instructor should take the Proctor training or the Coordinator training.

Do we need an FAQ?

Not necessarily. The FAQ feature is simply another tool in our arsenal. We can choose to use it as a whole unit and have the AES FAQ page, or perhaps it might be useful to have for individual teams. Either way, the FAQ is a feature that should be used sparingly as it defeats the point if we have several FAQs across our website leading to a situation where a main FAQ page is needed to determine which FAQ a participant should be using when they want to find an FAQ relevant to their question leading to this situation:

This FAQ feels a lot like an accordion. Can't we use an accordion?

Yes it does, but it's slightly different in the back end. And, yes, we could definitely make an FAQ using the accordion feature. But this is a dedicated tool that should be used sparingly, while the accordion is a content organization tool that should be used regularly.

I want an FAQ for my page, how do I get one?

You let me know and we'll schedule a meeting to determine if it's a good fit for your information and then discuss what content you'd like on your FAQ.

What if I don't want to meet with Kenneth?

This will be Kenneth.

What can be included in an FAQ?

A little bit of everything:
