Superintendent Hoffman's Statement on Governor Ducey's Executive Order 2021-04
Governor Ducey released an Executive Order today (EO 2021-04) today that calls on Arizona schools to make a good faith effort to open for in-person learning on the first Monday after their scheduled spring break or by March 15th if they have no spring break. Schools can continue to provide remote and hybrid options consistent with how they have been operating. Details and guidance for accommodating learning based on county transmission levels are available in the executive order.
Tribal stay-at-home orders stand and shall not be impacted by EO 2021-04. Arizona public schools must honor tribal sovereignty and accommodate students and families required and encouraged by tribal nations to stay in distance learning.
More guidance will be forthcoming on what this executive order means for schools and families to operationalize. By Friday, March 5th, ADE will communicate how school districts and charters can report their compliance with the EO to ADE.
