Come join us as we explore modern YA diverse texts that connect with classic literature!

Webinar Description: A panel of high school librarians will discuss the importance of diverse representation in high school libraries through Young Adult literature, with an emphasis on modern YA books that share similar themes and ideas as classic literature commonly taught at the high school level. We will discuss ways to incorporate modern YA books in with teaching classic literature in the classroom. Other topics to be discussed include books on mental health, LGBTQ representation, the importance of #OwnVoices, and the significance of book covers showing “a face like mine.” Participants will leave with a list of YA texts to add to their teacher toolbelt.

**This event is a great accompaniment to the Diverse Texts webinar also offered by ADE. You can find 5 different offerings of that webinar here: https://ems.azed.gov//home/SearchResults?SearchString=diverse%20texts.

You will earn 1-hour of PD credit for attending this webinar.

Microsoft Teams link will be individually emailed to registrants the day of the webinar.
