Achievement Tutoring | Parents & Families
The Achievement Tutoring Program seeks to provide high-quality tutoring to Arizona students in the subjects of reading, writing, and math to all students in grades K-12 with special emphasis for students who are not testing proficient in those areas and do not qualify for an already existing tutoring program. Existing tutoring programs include the following:
- State Tutoring - If your student is enrolled in a D or F school, a tutoring program already exists for your student. To enroll your student and learn more, please visit the State Tutoring website.
The tutoring program will be available only to students in grades K-12 who were in school during the pandemic. Students will participate in six-week tutoring blocks with a formative pre-test and post-test aligned with Arizona State Standards and the Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA). Students can expect to receive up to 60-minute tutoring sessions for up to four days a week during the six-week block. Tutoring can be done in small groups of no more than three students. The tutoring sessions may be completed in-person or online. Tutoring takes place before or after school hours only.
Reach out to your local school or district to see if they are providing services. If your school or district is not providing services, you can select to have an authorized Achievement Tutoring Provider tutor your student. To view our authorized list of Achievement Tutoring Providers, please visit the Authorized ATP Tutoring Provider page.
The Achievement Tutoring Program will continue through the 2024-2025 school year. Session Six begins on August 19, 2024, and ends on September 30, 2024.
You can also choose from the Authorized ATP Provider List.
- You will need your student's STATE STUDENT ID (SSID) number. This is an 8-digit number that is assigned to your student by the state. It is different from the school ID number. Please make sure to request from your school or charter your student's STATE STUDENT ID (SSID).
- You will need your student's date of birth which is tied to their SSID number. Please make sure to verify the date of birth tied to your student's SSID number.
Yes. Your student may attend multiple six-week tutoring blocks. Each six-week will focus on one subject.
The ATP six-week tutoring blocks will only focus on one subject at a time. If your student needs tutoring in both reading and math, they will need to attend multiple six-week tutoring blocks to get tutoring services for both content areas.
Yes. If your local school or district participates, you can select tutoring through them. If you choose, you may have your student tutored by an Authorized ATP Tutoring Provider.
At the beginning of each six-week tutoring session, your student will be assessed using a formative assessment selected by ADE to determine what your student's needs are. The tutor will then focus on the area of highest need. At the end of the six-week tutoring block, your student will be assessed using the ADE formative post-test. This is only for grades 1-8. If your student is in kindergarten or high school, the tutors may have alternate assessments.
Yes. We encourage and welcome open lines of communication between the parent and the tutor whether your student is tutored at school or by a tutoring provider.
The Achievement Tutoring Program is free to parents and students. The Arizona Department of Education is using ESSER III funds to provide tutoring for students who have been impacted during the pandemic.
No. Only ATP Tutoring Providers authorized by ADE will provide tutoring services. We are not distributing funds to parents to pay to tutor their students.
You can work with your tutoring provider or teacher tutor to reschedule the session if it is within the session block. However, if your student does not show for two sessions, they will be dropped from the program and may not re-enroll until the next tutoring session begins.
