DATA MANAGEMENT ALERTSpecial Education Data Dashboard Update:Preschool Transition and Students without Disabilities Data Entry Now OpenTwo new data entry components are added to the Special Education Data Dashboard (SEDD) as of today:Preschool Transition: required for PEAs that provide special education and related services to preschoolers. Data entry involves information on students who transferred from Part C (Arizona Early Intervention Program) to Part B (PEA preschool program).Students without Disabilities: data entry is required for PEAs to identify whether or not educational services were provided to students without disabilities reported as long-term suspended or expelled in AzEDS.These data collection requirements are due by August 3, 2022, by 5:00 pm. If your PEA does not serve preschoolers and/or does not have any students without disabilities reported as long-term suspended or expelled, these components will not be accessible and are not applicable.

DATA MANAGEMENT ALERTNEW Special Education Data DashboardThe NEW Special Education Data Dashboard (SEDD) opens on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 (today). The purpose of this application is to provide a one-stop shop for public education agencies (PEAs) to securely view their special education data as well as a redacted statewide view. By viewing relevant data in one place, PEAs can see how it all ties together and ultimately, how it all culminates into the indicators outlined in the State Performance Plan (SPP) / Annual Performance Report (APR).

DATA MANAGEMENT ALERTFY22 Parentally Placed Private School Student Survey required by all Public School Districts only opens on 5/18/22The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004 requires that each public education agency (PEA) maintain its records and provide to the State information related to parentally placed private elementary and secondary school student covered under §§ 300.130 through 300.144.The application will open on 5/18/22 and close for submissions on 8/3/22.

DATA MANAGEMENT ALERTSPED Integrity Rule -40055Integrity Rule -40055 will update on May 1st to validate SPED and Enrollment Exit Dates and reasons are reported (not null) until the end of FY 2022.SPED integrity rule -40055: If a student’s SPED Exit Reason does not match the student’s regular membership Year End or Withdrawal Membership status, then report the discrepancy as an error. This rule is triggered for all SPED data effective May 1st of the fiscal year to capture invalid exit combinations and relevant data elements not reported (see the SPED Exit Validation Matrix).

DATA MANAGEMENT ALERTFY23 Discipline Data Collection UpdateTo learn about updates to the ESS Discipline Data Collection (DDC) application for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2023, please review this memo which outlines upcoming changes. It is important to note that while reporting discipline data into AzEDS has been made available for FY23, this is a pilot year. All discipline data submissions for SPED students resulting in a removal will be required to be submitted into the ESS Discipline Data Collection application for FY23.

DATA MANAGEMENT ALERTFY23 Statement of Assurances required by all PEAs opens on 4/13/22Under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), the representative body for Special Education for Arizona, Exceptional Student Services, is required to obtain assurances from public education agencies (PEAs) to attest that they are meeting the requirements under state and federal statute for special education in the state of Arizona.It is a requirement for all entities that are defined as public education agencies (PEAs) regardless if they get federal funds or not.
