Supporting Military Children During Times of Global Crisis

Any time news of a war or crisis breaks out across the globe, military kids aren’t thinking only of that specific war or crisis. The constant talk of impending global conflict is worrisome and can prompt and/or increase anxiety. Most children hear about war or other conflicts from the news or from conversation with others and may wonder how it will impact them. Military children however are closer to these conflicts because they worry about their parents' safety. They have the additional stressor of wondering if and when their parent will be deployed.

Knowing this, there are supports educators can provide military connected students. We've included many here for you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your school counselor or to the course facilitators for more information or support.

As you download and use these resources, keep in mind the number one way to help military children during a time of global conflict is to validate their fears and provide them a safe place to express their concerns.
