The Arizona Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Program (AZTRAP) prepares future educators through paid, hands-on classroom experience under the mentorship of experienced teachers. By combining on-the-job training with Educator Preparation Program coursework, AZTRAP helps build a stronger, more sustainable teacher workforce for Local Education Agencies.

- An apprentice is an individual who is working in a Local Education Agency under the mentorship of a journeyworker. In addition, they are completing coursework to attain certification.
- A Local Education Agency (LEA) is a school district or charter that hires the apprentice and provides them with hands-on experience and pay.
- An Educator Prep Program (EPP) is a college or university approved by the Arizona State Board of Education that works with the Local Education Agency to develop the necessary coursework for the apprentice to complete.
