The Arts & Physical Education Digital Summit is an event organized to meet the professional development needs of Arts & Physical Education teachers in the 2020-2021 school year. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 14th when educators will have the opportunity to participate in 6 hours of discipline-specific professional development in 4 tracks related to the following themes: Social & Emotional Learning, Instructional Strategies, and Advocacy. As director of the Arts Education Partnership, Jamie works with over 100 partner organizations to support arts learning across the United States. Prior to joining Education Commission of the States, Jamie worked for Arts Education Collaborative in Pittsburgh and was previously the state arts curriculum advisor at the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Jamie is also an active musician who spends time on the weekends rehearsing or performing with various groups.
Carly Wright is the Vice President, Advocacy & Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for SHAPE America - the Society of Health and Physical Educators. Carly works on federal, state, and local initiatives related to improving, implementing, and assessing school health education and physical education programs and policies in schools. She also represents SHAPE America before the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, and participates in national coalitions that work to elevate and promote health and physical education policies across the country.
Recently, Carly has taken on the responsibility of leading staff efforts related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) for SHAPE America. She is the staff liaison to the EDI Taskforce and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors, SHAPE America staff, and volunteers to advance EDI throughout the organization.
Carly has led numerous webinars, presentations, and trainings across the United States on advocating for health education, physical education, and the overall wellness of our nation’s children. She has worked for SHAPE America for over twelve years and loves working with passionate advocates from the health and physical education community.
