ADE/ESS is excited to share that Arizona’s 2022 IDEA Conference will be held in person from September 7–9, 2022 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix.This year’s theme is Rise Up: Reimagining and Transforming Educational Practices. This cross-stakeholder event includes special education administrative staff, youth and young adults with disabilities, family members and caregivers, state agency staff, educators, service providers, and community members who share a commitment to student success.

Special Education Stakeholders,ADE/ESS is pleased to request proposals for Arizona’s 2022 IDEA Conference, Rise Up: Reimagining and Transforming Educational Practices.This year’s conference will be held in person at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix and will feature over 75 professional learning opportunities, including IDEA legal issues, instructional practices, national trends and hot topics, special education compliance, preschool and secondary transition, and social/emotional learning.

The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) is hosting a free discussion on implementing SB 1654 (Seizure Safe Schools). During this session, participants will receive information about the law and step-by-step details for complying with the law, hear about training requirements, and participate in a Q&A session where submitted questions will be answered. In addition, resources about seizure action plans and seizure first aid will be provided.

More than ever, all members of the IEP team would benefit from exploring additional tools and strategies for strengthening collaborative decision-making and building consensus. The ADE/ESS Dispute Resolution unit is pleased to offer a variety of professional learning opportunities, free of charge, to public education agencies (PEAs) seeking to establish or strengthen a facilitated IEP culture.

ESS Data Management is pleased to announce the FY24 Data Reporting Updates document. It’s now available in the ESS Data Management Toolkit and located on the ESS Data Management website.

The Special Education Data Dashboard (SEDD) opens today, May 18, 2023. This application aims to provide a one-stop shop for public education agencies (PEAs) to securely view their special education data and a redacted statewide view. By viewing relevant data in one place, PEAs can see how it all ties together and, ultimately, how it culminates into the indicators outlined in the State Performance Plan (SPP) / Annual Performance Report (APR).

The FY24 Statement of Assurances application is open for submission. All PEAs must submit the IDEA Statement of Assurances (SOA) through the ESS Portal of ADEConnect. This is required before any FY24 activities in the Exceptional Student Services portal are allowable. The portal will block any PEA that has not completed the SOA after the deadline.
