AZPSS Module 1 Military Life and Culture
The National Education Association describes cultural competence as “having an awareness of one’s own cultural identity and views about difference, and the ability to learn and build on the varying cultural and community norms of students and their families.” Like other cultures, the military has its own set of values, beliefs, customs, and language that determine how members interact and behave. Understanding military culture helps educators better serve the military-connected students in their classrooms.
This module was designed to increase educators' understanding of the culture of military-connected students and families.
