FUNDING INFO: FY27 IDEA Supplemental Funds Available - ACTION REQUIRED
In July 2026, the U.S. Department of Education awarded Arizona supplemental FFY 2026 IDEA funding through the following programs:
- IDEA Part B, Section 611 (Grants to States): $4.1 million
- IDEA Part B, Section 619 (Preschool Grants): $320,000
This communication serves as notification of the supplemental funding opportunity and outlines the required next steps for PEAs.
Period of Availability
The supplemental award follows the same period of performance as the FFY 2026 IDEA formula grant:
- Available: July 1, 2026 - September 30, 2027
- Liquidation: October 1, 2027 - December 30, 2027
Supplemental funds are subject to the same IDEA requirements, allowable uses, fiscal accountability, obligation, liquidation, and record-retention requirements as regular IDEA funds.
Action Required
To ensure the timely allocation of supplemental funds, PEAs must notify ESS Program Management by November 13, 2026, indicating whether they will accept or decline the funding opportunity. Please reply to [email protected] and indicate "Yes" or "No". If accepting the funds, please include both your PEA's Section 611 and Section 619 supplemental funding amounts in your response. Once ESS receives confirmations, allocations will be provided to the Grants team for upload into the Grants Management Enterprise (GME) and the supplemental funding application will be made available.
NOTE: PEAs that previously waived their FY 2027 IDEA Consolidated Part B Grant funds are not eligible to receive supplemental IDEA funding.
Important: PEAs that do not respond by November 13, 2026, will be considered to have declined the supplemental funding, and their allocations will be removed. No extensions can be guaranteed, and failure to respond by the deadline will be treated as a decision to decline the funds.
Please submit your response as soon as possible to assist ESS and the Grants team in preparing allocations and opening the application process.
Questions regarding allocations, allowable uses, or GME should be directed to your ESS fiscal contact or the ESS Program Management team at [email protected].
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and your continued stewardship of IDEA funds.
