Requirements for Certification
Certificate Requirements
An Arizona teaching certificate is an official credential issued by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) that authorizes individuals to teach in public schools across the state. Arizona offers a variety of teaching certificates depending on the grade level, subject area, and professional role.
Add Approved Area
Approved subject areas are added to Standard Professional, International Teaching, Alternative Teaching, or Classroom-Based Standard Teaching certificates in elementary education, middle grades education, secondary education, or special education (Birth-grade 12 or K-12) and authorize the holder to teach the subject area in a departmentalized (single subject) classroom within the grade range of the prerequisite certificate.
Add Endorsement
Endorsements are attachments to educator certificates that expand the areas the certificate holder is authorized to teach. Once issued, endorsements are automatically renewed with the certificate on which they were posted.
- IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card - All teachers and individuals who work in the classroom are required to have an Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card per Arizona Revised Statute 15-106.
