Comprehensive School Safety

Comprehensive School Safety

The Arizona Department of Education models its approach to Comprehensive School Safety after the nationally recognized Safe and Sound Schools Framework. This model is built on six key pillars that emphasize a collaborative, all-encompassing strategy to ensure schools are safe, supportive, and ready for learning.

When students feel safe, physically, emotionally, and mentally, they are better prepared to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Our approach recognizes that safety is not one-dimensional; it requires strong partnerships among educators, families, and community members to address the diverse needs of every school community
