This interactive self-paced professional learning course, for classroom teachers and instructional leaders, will build a strong foundation for practitioners as they navigate through Arizona's shifts in English Language Development, programming, and instruction. It is through the understanding of Arizona's Language Development Approach (LDA) and its four Principles, that educators will further develop the mindset and increased scope to be responsive and supportive to the needs of our English learners.
*Please note, if you participated in the live sessions of the LDA Series offered by our Professional Learning team during the 2021 and 2022 Summer seasons, the content is essentialy the same with the exception of Module 2, Principle 1. If you are interested in processing through the series again at your own pace, we invite you to register!
To build a deep understanding of these shifts, the content of this course has been organized into five modules.
MODULE 1: Overview of the LDA & Principles
MODULE 2: Principle One - Asset-Based Behaviors and Expectations
MODULE 3: Principle Four - Assessment, Monitoring, and Feedback
MODULE 4: Principle Two - Integrated Instruction in Disciplinary Language and Content
MODULE 5: Principle Three - Targeted and Explicit Language Instruction
TARGET AUDIENCE: K-12 classroom teachers and instructional leaders (Coaches, Specialists, Directors, etc.).
